TOLEDO, Ohio — Authorities in Lucas County have arrested a 25-year-old man accused of holding a pregnant woman captive and subjecting her to repeated acts of violence over a two-day period, court records show.
According to reports from WTOL, Jamere Jones has been charged with an extensive list of felonies, including three counts each of kidnapping, rape, and felonious assault. He also faces additional charges of strangulation, two counts of creating a risk of physical harm by strangulation, and one count of domestic violence.
Court documents reviewed by the outlet allege that the incidents occurred on Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, 2025, when Jones reportedly prevented the victim from leaving his residence. Investigators say the woman, who was approximately 21 weeks pregnant at the time, was repeatedly assaulted during that period.
The alleged acts include multiple sexual assaults, physical beatings with various objects — including a hammer — and repeated strangulation. Authorities further claim Jones poured rubbing alcohol on the victim, threatened to set her on fire, and aimed a loaded firearm at her. WTGV reports that one strangulation incident caused the woman to lose consciousness.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was later taken to a hospital for treatment. According to WTOL, the assault may have resulted in trauma to her unborn child.
Jones remains in custody with bond set at $590,000. Court records indicate he is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 14.
