A 24-year-old British man was remanded in custody after being allegedly caught with a stash of cocaine at Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston.
The accused has been identified as Isun Shaka Haywood, a delivery driver from London, England. Haywood is now facing a long list of serious charges, including possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine, attempting to export cocaine, and conspiracy to export cocaine.
Haywood, represented by attorney Odane Marston, appeared before the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court where his bail application was denied. He has been ordered to return to court on October 16, 2025.
The Allegations
Reports are that around 11:30 a.m. on Monday, August 4, Haywood arrived at the Kingston airport preparing to board a flight destined for Toronto, Canada. Police officers allegedly became suspicious and interviewed him.
A search of his suitcase reportedly uncovered several rectangular packages containing a white powdery substance resembling cocaine.
The packages, weighing 10 pounds 6.21 ounces, were seized and sent to the government’s forensic lab, where tests later confirmed the substance to be cocaine.
Haywood was arrested on suspicion of breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act and later formally charged after a question-and-answer session with investigators.
