Manchester, Jamaica — Detectives in Manchester on Monday questioned Lawrence Sergeant, father of murdered teenager Shantina Sergeant, in the presence of his attorney.
Sergeant, along with another relative, was also swabbed for DNA as part of a forensic investigation into the 13-year-old’s death.
Shantina’s partially burnt body was discovered last week Monday under zinc sheets and beside a burnt-out refrigerator at the back of her family home in Baillieston, Clarendon. A post-mortem examination reportedly concluded that she died from blunt force trauma.
Lawrence Sergeant has been named a person of interest in the investigation into his daughter’s murder and was apprehended in Old Harbour, St Catherine, on Friday.
