Three men were killed and two other people seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision along the Salem main road in Runaway Bay, St Ann, on Saturday night, October 24.

A preliminary police report listed excessive speeding, insufficient regard for road conditions, an apparent error of judgment and turning right without due care as possible contributing factors.
Police data showed that 281 people had died in 241 fatal collisions nationwide since the start of the year. Road deaths were reportedly down 12 per cent, while fatal collisions declined by 37 per cent compared with the corresponding period last year.
