President Donald Trump has confirmed he is not planning to grant a pardon to music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, effectively ending speculation that the incarcerated entertainer might receive executive clemency.
In an interview with The New York Times, Trump acknowledged that he received a letter from Combs requesting a pardon but made it clear the request is not under consideration. The statement signals that Combs will be required to complete his current prison term without presidential intervention.
The decision undercuts earlier claims attributed to Combs while he was housed at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. Inmates there reportedly said Combs had suggested he expected a pardon from Trump sometime in early 2026.
Combs is currently serving a 50-month federal sentence following his conviction on two prostitution-related charges. He was sentenced in October 2025.
Shortly after that sentencing, Combs’ legal team contacted a senior White House official with access to the president to explore the possibility of a pardon or sentence commutation. Trump later confirmed publicly that he was aware of the outreach, and sources at the time indicated the president had not yet made a firm decision.
With Trump now stating he is not considering clemency, it appears the matter has been settled. Representatives for Combs declined to comment when contacted.
