Britney Spears has announced she has no intention of performing live in the United States again, revealing the decision directly to fans through a social media post.
In a message shared Thursday night on Instagram, the pop icon said she will not return to American stages, citing “extremely sensitive reasons” for the choice. While she did not expand on the explanation, her statement made clear the decision is definitive.
Despite stepping away from U.S. performances, Spears indicated she remains open to appearing overseas. She hinted that concerts in the United Kingdom and Australia could take place in the near future and suggested her son may be involved. In the post, Spears expressed pride and admiration for him, calling him a “huge star” and saying she was honored to support his creative pursuits. She also noted that she plans to give him a piano featured in the photo accompanying her message.
Spears did not specify which of her sons she was referencing, though she has previously praised her younger son, Jayden James, for his musical abilities. The singer has spent increasing time with him over the past year, including celebrating Christmas together. Her older son, Sean Preston, spent the holiday with his aunt, Jamie Lynn Spears, and her family.
The singer also addressed her frequently discussed Instagram dance videos, explaining that the movement serves a personal purpose. According to Spears, dancing helps her heal physically and emotionally, even if sharing those moments publicly can feel uncomfortable. She described the process as part of her recovery from past experiences.
Spears has long stated that dance plays a key role in helping her process trauma, and her latest comments reinforce that message as she outlines a future focused on healing and select international appearances.
