A 64-year-old farmer from St. Mary has been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a child over a two-year period, from 2023 to 2025.
Duane Gilfus, of Goshen district, Lucky Hill, faces serious charges, including:
• Two counts of Rape.
• Three counts of Sexual Touching of a Child.
According to police reports, the alleged assaults occurred on multiple occasions during visits the child made to Mr. Gilfus’ residence:
• 2023–2024: It is alleged that during a visit with an adult relative, Mr. Gilfus inappropriately touched the child.
• 2024–2025: On two separate subsequent visits, he allegedly sexually assaulted the girl.
Following the most recent alleged incident, a report was filed with the police, leading to an investigation. Mr. Gilfus was taken into custody and was positively identified in an identification parade.
He was formally charged on Wednesday, November 26, by the St. Mary Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA). A date for his court appearance is currently being finalized
