KINGSTON, Jamaica — In the heartbreaking aftermath of Hurricane Melissa, as hundreds of families across Jamaica fight to rebuild piece by piece, the Unicomer Group has surged into action, delivering a powerful lifeline to those in need.

The company has donated 100 brand-new twin and double mattresses to Food for the Poor Jamaica, with another 200 mattresses and essential household items already lined up and ready to roll out. The urgent contribution comes at a time when many survivors are still sleeping on floors, in shelters, or in damaged homes—grappling with the emotional and physical toll of the devastating storm.

Ann Marie Walters, Managing Director of Unicomer Jamaica, says the company refuses to sit on the sidelines while Jamaicans suffer.

“Unicomer Group is committed to helping those affected by this storm. We know that rebuilding homes and restoring a sense of normalcy is important. With this donation, our hope is to bring a meaningful measure of comfort to families as they rebuild their lives,” she declared.

This latest act of support comes after Unicomer pledged over $75 million within hours of the hurricane’s impact—funds aimed at assisting both their team members and members of the public grappling with destruction and loss.

Unicomer says the mission is far from over. Walters emphasized that the company will continue working arm-in-arm with Food for the Poor Jamaica to push relief deeper into affected communities, offering not just immediate comfort but the foundation for long-term recovery.
