Labour and Social Security Minister Pearnel Charles Jr. is urging seniors, especially older men, to register with the National Council for Senior Citizens (NCSC) and become active in senior citizens’ clubs.
Speaking at the NCSC Region Three Awards Ceremony at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel on October 8, Charles encouraged older Jamaicans to pursue new interests, enjoy companionship and continue contributing to their communities.
He also called on clubs to recruit more seniors and connect members with young people who need mentorship, guidance and support.
The ceremony recognised contributions from seniors and stakeholders across Kingston, St. Thomas, Portland and St. Mary, as part of the NCSC’s 50th anniversary celebrations
