St Catherine, Jamaica: A 31-year-old St Catherine man who allegedly practises obeah has been charged with rape following allegations that he sexually assaulted a 14-year-old girl during a purported spiritual healing session.
The accused, who police say advertises himself on social media as a spiritual healer, is also charged with sexual touching and practising obeah.
The child’s grandmother faces a charge of consulting a person practising obeah.
Police allege that the grandmother contacted the man around 1 p.m. on August 28, 2026, to request his services. He allegedly directed her to an address in Bog Walk, where she travelled with her granddaughter.
On their arrival, the accused reportedly took them to a shed on the premises. Investigators allege that he performed rituals on the child and sexually assaulted her during the session.
The matter was subsequently reported to the police. Investigators visited the property and seized several items described as paraphernalia before arresting and charging the accused.
