A security guard is facing multiple firearm-related charges after police intercepted him during a late-night operation in Zaidie Gardens, St Andrew, on December 26.
The accused, 41-year-old Keven Smith of Seaview Gardens, was reportedly driving a red Kia Seltos SUV outfitted with flashing blue lights when police stopped him around 11:30 p.m.
According to law enforcement, Smith complied with instructions to pull over. However, when he exited the vehicle, officers noticed suspicious bulges at his waist. A subsequent search allegedly uncovered a Taurus G2C pistol with a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition, along with a Glock magazine carrying one .40 calibre cartridge.
Police say Smith was unable to provide legal authorization for the weapon, ammunition, or the use of blue lights. He has since been charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and unauthorised use of blue lights.
