MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 32-year-old man has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of two people on Caledonia Road in Manchester earlier this month.
The accused, Ramalio Miles of Bonnie View Terrace, Melrose Mews, was charged by the Manchester Policing Division with two counts of murder, four counts of shooting with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.
The charges relate to the deaths of 24-year-old Deneekia Pounall of Heartease District, Mandeville, and 21-year-old Sadefa Henry, a deliveryman of Marvel Close in Greenvale.
According to police reports, the incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. on July 18. Investigators say Miles was travelling in a taxi with Pounall and Henry when, upon reaching a section of Caledonia Road, he requested to exit the vehicle.
Shortly after he got out, several explosions were reportedly heard.
The two victims were later found suffering from gunshot wounds and were transported to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Police said Miles was subsequently identified during an identification parade conducted on July 25, after which he was formally charged.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
