ST ELIZABETH, Jamaica — The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is mourning the loss of one of its members following a fatal motor vehicle collision in St Elizabeth on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Constable E. Evans, who was assigned to the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB). Reports indicate that the incident occurred about 10:15 a.m. along the Goshen Main Road in Santa Cruz.
Preliminary information suggests that Constable Evans was operating a police-issued motorcycle when it collided with a Toyota Coaster bus. He sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Mandeville Regional Hospital, where he later died while receiving treatment.
The driver of the bus has been identified by authorities. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing and are being conducted by the Black River Traffic Department.
The Police Federation and the JCF Welfare Department have since been informed, and steps are being taken to provide support to the officer’s family, colleagues, and loved ones.
