LAKE CITY, S.C. — A 26-year-old South Carolina woman has been arrested and charged following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a 14-year-old boy.
According to police, Aladrian Chandler was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor. She was booked into the Florence County Detention Center on December 8, where she remains held without bond.
Investigators say the alleged incident occurred last month inside Chandler’s vehicle while her three children were present. A police report states that Chandler admitted to a sexual encounter with the teenager but denied that intercourse took place. She also claimed she believed the boy was older than 14; however, under South Carolina law, mistake of age is not a valid legal defense.
Authorities report that the teen told police he met Chandler while she was delivering food. The two allegedly exchanged phone numbers on November 16 and began communicating shortly thereafter.
Police began investigating Chandler two days later after she reported a firearm stolen from her vehicle. During the investigation, she reportedly gave a written statement indicating the juvenile had taken the gun from her car.
If convicted of the felony charge, Chandler faces a potential sentence of two to ten years in prison and would be required to serve a minimum of two years before becoming eligible for parole.
The case remains under investigation.
