Chronic Law US visa revocation

Chronic Law US Visa Revoked After Georgia Arrest, Court Documents Reveal

Jamaican entertainer Ackeme Jermane Campbell, popularly known as Chronic Law, was detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials in January after his O-1B visa, which allowed him to live and work in the United States, was revoked.

Court documents reviewed by our news centre indicate that the visa revocation stemmed from Campbell’s arrest in Turner County, Georgia, in November 2025 on allegations including speeding and attempting to evade police.

The November arrest later developed into a federal case involving gun possession charges.

Campbell was detained by ICE agents in Miami, Florida, on January 12, 2026, approximately 10 days after his O-1B visa was revoked on January 2.

The O-1B visa is issued to individuals who demonstrate extraordinary ability in fields such as the arts, sciences, education, business or athletics.

According to the court documents, a visa revocation generally takes effect immediately. However, if the visa holder is already in the United States when the revocation is issued, the visa remains valid until the person departs the country.

Records indicate that Campbell had left the United States following his November arrest and returned on December 10, before the visa was revoked.

Campbell subsequently spent approximately 10 weeks in custody before his release, after which he returned to his music career and debuted new material.

On March 18, 65 days after his ICE detention, Immigration Judge Anthony Maingot terminated the immigration proceedings against Campbell.

The judge determined that Campbell was not removable because his visa remained valid until the revocation became effective under the circumstances outlined in the proceedings.

The termination of the immigration case, however, does not resolve the separate federal criminal proceedings stemming from his November arrest.

Under the current circumstances, Campbell will have to reapply for a visa if he leaves the United States and wishes to return. His existing visa is also scheduled to expire in May 2027.
