KINGSTON, Jamaica — A dispute over a shared boatyard in Harbour View reportedly ended with one businessman seriously injured and another fatally shot by police on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as 63-year-old Paul Thompson, otherwise called “Pablo”, of Richards Avenue, Kingston 6.
According to preliminary reports, Thompson and the other businessman were arguing about 3:30 p.m. when Thompson allegedly pulled a firearm and shot the man in the chest and right hand. He also allegedly fired at the injured man’s pet Rottweiler.
The wounded businessman was taken to hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.
Police reportedly responded and were processing the scene when Thompson allegedly opened fire on them. Officers returned fire, hitting him.
Thompson was taken to Kingston Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigations are ongoing.
