Grants Pen, St. Andrew – The Grants Pen community is mourning the senseless death of one of its elders, 92-year-old Winston Kerr, who was mowed down like an animal in a cold-hearted hit-and-run incident on Wednesday night, August 20.
Reports reaching McKoy’s News are that about 10:30 PM, Mr. Kerr was walking peacefully along the roadway when a speeding motorcycle came out of nowhere and slammed into him, throwing him to the ground.
But instead of stopping to help or call for assistance, the motorcyclist sped off into the night, leaving the elderly man to suffer in the street.
Residents say they heard the impact and rushed out to see Mr. Kerr bleeding and barely conscious. He was quickly rushed to the hospital, but despite doctors’ best efforts, the 92-year-old succumbed to his injuries.
The Constant Spring Police are currently investigating, and the search is on for the motorcyclist who fled the scene.
