MONTEGO BAY, St James (McKoy’s News) — It was a magical, history-making moment on Saturday night as Grammy-winning R&B legend Toni Braxton delivered a stunning performance on Festival Night Two of Reggae Sumfest 2025, marking her long-awaited return to the Jamaican stage after more than a decade.
The international songstress, known for timeless hits such as “Un-Break My Heart”, “Breathe Again” and “He Wasn’t Man Enough”, had the thousands gathered at Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre singing every word of her classics. Her set was a soulful, emotional journey that captivated both young and old in the packed venue.
Braxton last performed on the island 16 years ago and was visibly moved to be back in front of a Jamaican audience. Before her performance, she shared her excitement on social media, posting:
“JAMAICA, it’s been too long! I’m heading back to @reggaesumfest and I can’t wait to see you all!”
Festival organisers described her performance as a bold and classy highlight of the night, perfectly complementing the reggae and dancehall energy from other acts such as Tarrus Riley, Protoje and Lila Iké.
Joe Bogdanovich, CEO of Downsound Entertainment, lauded Braxton’s participation as “a testament to Sumfest’s global appeal,” adding that bringing her back to the Sumfest stage was a request they were happy to fulfil.
The crowd erupted when Braxton delivered her signature ballads and even teased the audience with an a cappella moment, her powerful vocals echoing through the Montego Bay night sky.
Reggae Sumfest 2025, which runs from July 13–19, continues to showcase the best of Jamaican culture while embracing international talent — a blend that has made it the Caribbean’s premier music festival.
