Montego Bay, St James (McKoy’s News) — Reggae singer Fantan Mojah reminded patrons of the power of roots and culture during his heartfelt set on Festival Night Two at Reggae Sumfest 2025 in Catherine Hall.
Clad in a casual Nike tracksuit and his signature backpack, the veteran artiste took the stage with humility and fire, proving once again why he remains a cherished figure in Jamaican music.
Mojah opened his set by urging the massive crowd to stand and “bless up the moment,” grounding the night in spirituality and gratitude. He brought positive vibrations with hits like “Hail the King” and “Rasta Got Soul,” blending inspiration with his signature energy.
In one of the most touching moments of the evening, he invited a young talent — a 12-year-old named Emma — to join him onstage. The budding singer won over the audience with her poise and vocals, reminiscent of historic moments like Cocoa Tea introducing Koffee.
The singer also reflected on a frightening experience last year when he was hospitalised in Martinique after falling ill. He thanked fellow artistes, including Sizzla, who supported him through his recovery, and expressed gratitude to the audience for their unwavering love.
Although his set was limited to 20 minutes, Mojah joked about having “so many hits to fit in,” and noted that overseas, he is accustomed to much longer stage time. Nevertheless, his brief performance was packed with passion and purpose.
Fantan Mojah’s appearance stood out as a genuine and soul-stirring highlight of the night, bringing roots reggae and righteousness to the forefront of Sumfest.
