CLARENDON, Jamaica: Bustamante Highway Crash — A member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch (PSTEB) was killed in a motor vehicle crash along the Bustamante Highway in Clarendon early Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as 32-year-old Constable Shavaine Davy, who was assigned to the PSTEB in the Corporate Area. Davy was a native of Craighead in northern Manchester and previously served with the Department of Correctional Services before joining the Jamaica Constabulary Force. (RJR News)
Preliminary reports indicate that shortly before 5:00 a.m., Constable Davy was driving a Toyota Premio motor car along the highway when, upon reaching the vicinity of Swansea, he reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car overturned, leaving the officer with severe injuries.
He was rushed to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, and police have not yet determined what caused the vehicle to overturn. Investigators are expected to examine all factors surrounding the incident before releasing their findings.
Constable Davy’s passing has cast a shadow over the Jamaica Constabulary Force, particularly among members of the Public Safety and Traffic Enforcement Branch, where he served in enforcing road safety and traffic regulations.
