ST ANN, Jamaica — Father Charged for Brutal Murder of Two Children in Moneague
The St Ann police have charged 22-year-old Alaine Saunders with the horrific double murder of his one-year-old son, Amir Saunders, and his two-year-old stepson, Shamair Henry, whose bodies were found last week in Swamp district, Moneague.
In a statement released on Monday, September 1, investigators confirmed that Saunders was questioned in the presence of his attorney and subsequently slapped with two counts of murder.
A court date is being finalized.
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
According to reports, about 8:00 pm last Tuesday, Saunders and his common-law spouse were at home consuming ganja tea when an argument broke out.
In a fit of rage, Saunders allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and attacked the woman. She managed to escape, but as she looked back, she reportedly saw him turn on the children, stabbing them repeatedly.
The terrified mother ran to the Moneague Police Station and reported the incident. Officers rushed to the scene but did not find the children — only bloodstains throughout the house, while Saunders was discovered in what appeared to be an intoxicated state.
He was immediately taken into custody.
The following morning, investigators made the gruesome discovery — the body of one child was found behind the house, and the other a short distance away, confirming the community’s worst fears.
The killings have left residents of Moneague shaken and angry. “It is the most wicked thing we ever see in this community. Nobody can believe a father could do this,” one resident told Mckoy’s News.
Police have described the case as deeply disturbing, vowing that justice will be pursued for the two young victims.
