Kingston, Jamaica –The entertainment community is in mourning following the shocking, execution-style murder of Jabari “Baba Skeng” Johnson, son of renowned reggae artiste Jah Mason. Johnson was fatally shot during a livestream on TikTok near a shop on Red Hills Road in St Andrew on Monday, in a chilling act that has left fans and fellow creatives stunned.
The incident, which has since gone viral, occurred in the vicinity of Queenie’s Snack Shop. According to eyewitness reports and social media footage, a masked, hooded man dressed entirely in black approached Johnson and shot him at close range—first in the back of the head. After Johnson collapsed, the assailant fired several more shots into his body before fleeing the scene.
Johnson’s murder has sent shockwaves across Jamaica’s entertainment community and has intensified concerns about the rise in targeted attacks against social media influencers.
The St Andrew North Police have launched an investigation into the incident. While no motive has yet been confirmed, the brazen nature of the attack—carried out publicly and during a livestream—has raised serious questions about the safety of online personalities.
This marks the fourth killing of a popular Jamaican TikTok figure in recent months, further heightening alarm. In December 2024, Marlon “41 Busshead” Samuels was murdered in Montego Bay. Just weeks earlier, 23-year-old Xavier “Niah Gang” Fogah was gunned down in St Catherine. In September, Keauno “Popsy” Watson also fell victim to gun violence.
As tributes pour in for Johnson—described by friends as a rising personality and charismatic entertainer—questions continue to mount about the safety of digital creators in Jamaica and the growing intersection between social media visibility and violent crime.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as investigations continue.
