Florida, USA – Jamaican dancehall artist Lisa Hyper is celebrating after trespassing charges against her were dismissed in a US court in Florida on Monday. The dismissal occurred after the complainant failed to appear in court.
Speaking with Observer Online, Lisa Hyper expressed her relief and positive outlook. “This is a great development for me, and things have been headed in the right direction for me spiritually, musically and emotionally,” she said.
The artist explained that the case was scheduled for trial on April 13th, but the complainant did not appear. “The prosecutor offered no evidence and the case was dismissed. The judge informed my lawyer that there is no further case to answer and I was free of all charges,” Lisa Hyper stated.
The trespassing charges stemmed from what she described as “minor brushes with the law” during recent mental health episodes in the United States.
This positive legal development follows another favorable outcome for Lisa Hyper in Jamaica last week, where a judge vacated a bench warrant issued in her disorderly conduct and assault case at the Norman Washington Manley airport.
Since her release from the hospital last month, Lisa Hyper reports being in good spirits and is actively working on new music, including an upcoming EP. She has also launched a weekly event in New Kingston called ’21 Bad Gyal Fridays’.
