Clarendon, Jamaica – A 34-year-old man was found dead on Saturday afternoon following a violent altercation in the Saigon community of St. James.
The deceased, Warren Anthony Matthews originally from Race Course in Clarendon, had been living in a one-bedroom house in the Barrett Town Police Division.
Reports suggest that the victim was involved in a heated dispute earlier in the week with a 55-year-old man. The conflict reportedly stemmed from disagreements involving a woman and money.
Around 12:55 p.m. on April 12, residents discovered the body lying face down behind his home in a pool of blood. Investigators noted signs of a struggle inside the residence, including blood splatters. Matthews had sustained multiple injuries, including a neck wound and a large gash to the left side of his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, aware that he was being sought by police, later surrendered himself and remains in custody.
Investigations are ongoing.
