Westmoreland, Jamaica – A man was shot and killed by police on the night of April 12 during a confrontation in the Lower Darliston area of Westmoreland. He was later identified as Ryan Johnson, a notorious figure with a long history of criminal activity including armed robberies, burglaries, and murder.
According to police reports, a patrol team spotted Johnson acting suspiciously on the main road and instructed him to stop. Instead, he reportedly drew a firearm and opened fire. Police returned fire, fatally wounding him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A black Taurus 9mm pistol with four live rounds was recovered from his body.
Johnson had been implicated in several violent incidents over the years, including the 2017 murder of Anthony Bryan, and the 2023 killing of popular herbal drink entrepreneur William “Baba Roots” Webb.
