St Elizabeth, Jamaica – A police officer collapsed and died Tuesday morning at the Tranquility Bay training academy in Treasure Beach, St Elizabeth.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Desmond Thompson, a former district constable who was undergoing training with the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
According to reports, around 7:30 a.m., Thompson had just completed a physical training session and was returning to the barracks area when he suddenly collapsed. Fellow officers quickly rendered first aid before transporting him to the Black River Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and a post-mortem examination is expected to determine the cause of death.
Thompson’s passing has left fellow recruits and trainers at the academy in shock, as tributes pour in from friends and colleagues remembering him as dedicated and disciplined.
