TRENCH TOWN, St. Andrew – A police team from Specialised Operations seized a firearm and a quantity of ammunition during an operation in Trench Town on Thursday. The operation resulted in the recovery of a loaded pistol and several shotgun cartridges.
According to police reports, at approximately 1:30 PM, acting on intelligence, law enforcement officers conducted searches at two separate houses within the community.
The search of one residence led to the discovery of a .45 pistol with a magazine containing six .45 cartridges, which was found hidden inside a stove. At a second house, officers uncovered fifty-three 12-gauge cartridges concealed within a sofa cushion.
Despite the successful seizure of the firearm and ammunition, no arrests were made during the operation.
The police are continuing their investigation into the matter and are seeking any information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of those responsible for the possession of these illegal items. The seizure represents an ongoing effort by law enforcement to reduce gun-related crime within the Trench Town community.
