Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly suffered a serious head injury during a fight with convicted Jamaican drug lord Christopher “Dudus” Coke at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
TMZ, citing multiple sources inside the prison, reported that the confrontation happened last Friday and that Combs was taken to an outside medical facility for treatment.
According to the outlet, the dispute stemmed from inmate anger over an NBC News report about Combs’ alleged privileges behind bars.
Sources claimed that prison officials carried out at least two raids following the report, confiscating mobile phones from inmates, including Coke. The loss of those privileges reportedly fuelled tensions between the two men.
Coke, who received a 23-year prison sentence in 2012, was described by TMZ’s sources as an influential figure inside the facility.
The outlet reported that Combs was already being held in the Special Housing Unit following the NBC report. The alleged fight occurred while he was out for his daily break.
TMZ said both men were subsequently placed in the unit for two weeks as punishment.
The outlet had previously reported that Combs was removed from the prison by ambulance early Saturday to receive emergency treatment for a head injury.
The account relies on unnamed sources cited by TMZ. The supplied report does not include confirmation from prison officials or representatives for either man.
