A 40-year-old man known by the alias “Bloodstain” has been formally charged again in connection with a fatal shooting that claimed the lives of an adult and a toddler in Kingston 20 last year.
Police report that Courtney Ashley was charged on Tuesday in relation to the September incident on Grenmeade Road that resulted in the deaths of 25-year-old Kimarley Powell, also called “Beans,” and two-year-old Tajuan Jackson.
Investigators say the victims were part of a small group gathered along the roadway when a motor vehicle approached and came to a stop nearby. According to the Duhaney Park Police, gunfire was then unleashed from the vehicle by one of its occupants.
After the attack, Powell, the child, and another man were discovered suffering from gunshot wounds. They were rushed to hospital, where Powell and the toddler were pronounced dead. The third victim survived with injuries.
In this latest case, Ashley faces charges of murder, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon, and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Law enforcement officials also confirmed that Ashley had already been taken into custody and charged earlier this year in connection with a separate murder that occurred in November 2017. That matter also includes firearm and ammunition offences.
A date for his next court appearance has not yet been set.
