The Ministry of Labour and Social Security (MLSS) is urging the public to exercise caution following reports of fraudulent job advertisements that falsely claim the ministry is offering remote work opportunities with daily earnings between $8,000 and $18,000.
In an official statement, the MLSS advised job seekers to verify any job opportunities by visiting the ministry’s official website and social media pages before clicking on any links or making payments. “Visit the ministry’s official website for legitimate local and overseas job placement opportunities,” the statement read.
The ministry emphasized that the fraudulent ads are misusing its logo and branding to deceive unemployed individuals, and it is calling on residents to report any suspected scams. Those with information are encouraged to contact the police or reach out directly to the MLSS via telephone at (876) 922-8000-13 or email at clientcare@mlss.gov.jm.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and urge the community to remain vigilant in order to avoid falling victim to these scams.
