Two elderly passengers were fortunate to avoid serious harm following a motor vehicle crash along the Spur Tree Hill main road in Manchester on Wednesday morning.
Emergency responders were alerted to the incident at approximately 7:26 a.m., when the Manchester Fire Department received reports of a vehicle going over a precipice in the area.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a BYD motor car that had fallen down an embankment. The occupants—a male and a female, both senior citizens—were rescued from the wreckage.
First responders administered immediate care, including the application of cervical collars to stabilize their necks. The injured individuals were later transported to hospital by a passing motorist.
The latest crash has raised fresh concerns about safety along the Spur Tree Hill corridor. Just two weeks earlier, a separate incident in the same vicinity claimed the lives of two people after a cement truck plunged over a precipice.
