MANCHESTER, Jamaica — Two men employed by the National Water Commission (NWC) have died following a two-vehicle crash on the Pen Hill main road in Manchester on Thursday afternoon.
Police have identified the deceased as Lemar Lewis and Livingston McEwan.
Reports from the police indicate that the collision occurred about 1:30 p.m. when a Suzuki Swift motorcar, carrying the two men, was traveling downhill along the roadway. At the same time, a Toyota Wish was reportedly traveling uphill in the opposite direction.
Investigators say the Toyota Wish allegedly failed to keep left, resulting in a head-on collision with the Suzuki Swift.
The impact left both vehicles severely mangled. Firefighters, along with passing motorists, assisted in removing three injured persons from the wreckage.
The injured individuals were transported to hospital where Lewis and McEwan were pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota Wish remains hospitalized and is reported to be in critical condition.
Police have launched an investigation into the fatal crash.
