KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jubilation erupted at Belmont Road Wednesday night as the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) clinched a historic third straight term in office.
Preliminary results from the day’s general election show the JLP securing 34 seats, edging out the People’s National Party (PNP), which tallied 29 seats.
Early figures also indicate that the JLP captured the popular vote, further cementing their mandate to govern.
Supporters flooded the JLP headquarters, waving flags, chanting victory songs, and celebrating what many described as a hard-fought but decisive win.
The atmosphere was electric as party faithful declared the win a clear endorsement of the JLP’s performance.
