Shaun Barnes and Aliana McMaster Crowned 2025 National Shotgun Champions

Jamaica — After months of stiff competition and razor-sharp focus, Shaun Barnes and Aliana McMaster emerged victorious at the 2025 Motul National Shotgun Championship, officially claiming the titles of National Shotgun Champions.

The championship, which ran across several months and venues, tested shooters across four intense disciplines — 5-Stand, FITASC, Super Sporting, and Sporting Clays.

Barnes Blasts Back to the Top

For Shaun Barnes, it was a triumphant return to form, as he bagged 434 out of 500 birds, sealing his seventh national title — and his first in years.

He topped 5-Stand and FITASC with scores of 91 and 95 respectively. His Super Sporting score of 85 placed him in the top 10, and the 163 he posted during the two-day Sporting Clays finale secured his position at the top of the podium.

“It’s a really good feeling,” said Barnes. “I’ve been putting my energy into coaching, and now to be back up here, it means everything.”

Barnes credited his solo focus this year for the win, noting that stepping away from his coaching duties gave him the edge he needed.

“I had time to focus on myself again — that made the difference.”

Former champion Christian Sasso came in a close second, just six birds behind, with a strong 426.

Triple Treat for McMaster

On the Ladies’ side, Aliana McMaster was in a league of her own. The defending champion dominated her category, posting a total score of 410 birds to clinch her third consecutive national title. Her individual scores:

  • 5-Stand: 82
  • FITASC: 87
  • Super Sporting: 88
  • Sporting Clays: 153

Her mother and former Ladies Champion, Wendy McMaster, finished runner-up with 359.

“Honestly, I couldn’t imagine the feeling until it happened,” said Aliana. “There’s so much pressure. You have to shoot consistently well across months of events before going into the final 200-bird round. Coming out on top — it’s phenomenal.”

Class Champions Shine

Other shooters also lit up the leaderboard in their divisions:

  • A Class – Chad Ziadie – 424
  • B Class – Andrew Azan – 363
  • C Class – Brian Kong – 385
  • D Class – Max Williams – 370
  • E Class, Ladies, and Juniors – Aliana McMaster
  • Sub Juniors – Rheis McMaster – 329
  • Hunters/ Beginners – Rueben Carillo – 278

Strong Support and Record Turnout

Jamaica Skeet Club President Justin Samuda praised the execution of the event and the support from title sponsor Motul (makers of Lubit Performance motor oil used by racing star Sarah Misir).

“We had the largest attendance for the National Championship in years,” said Samuda. “The sport is alive and well, and we have a young, energetic team pushing the growth. We’re grateful to Motul for their unwavering support.”

With energy, talent, and community spirit firing on all cylinders, the 2025 National Shotgun Championship was a resounding success — and a celebration of the best in Jamaican sport shooting.
