Relatives of 30-year-old Oneika Kentish, otherwise called “Chubby,” remain anxious as efforts continue to locate her one week after she left the Black River Hospital in St Elizabeth.
Kentish, who is from the Thornton community in the parish, had reportedly been receiving treatment at the medical facility for mental health-related concerns when the incident occurred last Friday.
Hospital officials confirmed earlier this week that the woman exited the compound without authorization. According to the administration, it is believed she left through a rear grille that had reportedly been opened to facilitate cleaning activities.
Chief Executive Officer Diana Brown-Miller stated that social workers had been mobilized to assist with a comprehensive search operation aimed at finding Kentish and ensuring her safe return.
Family members also disclosed that this was not the first time Kentish had gone missing under similar circumstances, noting that Friday’s disappearance marked the second such incident.
