Parish Court Judge Ruth Lawrence Dead

TRELAWNY, Jamaica — The parish of Trelawny is in mourning  after Parish Court Judge Ruth Lawrence was discovered unresponsive at her Coral Spring home on Tuesday evening.

Family members and neighbours rushed to assist before she was taken to the Falmouth Public General Hospital around 7:50 p.m., where doctors later pronounced her dead.

A police source confirmed that there were no signs of physical injury on her body.

When reporters visited the hospital, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) were seen on location, maintaining a presence as news of her sudden passing spread.

Superintendent Velonique Campbell, commander of the Trelawny Police Division, confirmed Judge Lawrence’s death but cautioned that “it is still early days.”

Her untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the legal fraternity and the wider community, where she was highly respected for her years of service on the bench.
