A 27-year-old man from Ewarton, St. Catherine, has been charged with the sexual assault and abduction of a seven-year-old girl. The man was formally charged on Friday by the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA).
He is facing charges of rape, sexual touching, and forcible abduction.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 2 p.m. in St. Catherine. The victim was reportedly walking home from school when the accused allegedly grabbed her, dragged her to the rear of a property, and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect later attempted to flee the area in a taxi. However, the vehicle was intercepted by alert residents who detained the man and handed him over to the police.
