ST ANDREW, Jamaica — An illegal firearm and several rounds of ammunition were seized by police during a targeted operation carried out in Havendale, St Andrew, early Thursday morning.
According to reports, members of the St Andrew North Police Division, assisted by officers from other divisions, conducted an operation at a property along Border Avenue in Kingston 19 at approximately 5:00 a.m.
During the search, law enforcement officers reportedly discovered a Glock 19 pistol loaded with eight 9mm cartridges.
One individual was taken into custody in connection with the seizure and was transported to the Constant Spring Police Station for processing.
Investigations into the matter are being led by the St Andrew North Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
Police statistics indicate that the latest seizure has increased the number of illegal firearms recovered within the St Andrew North Division to 12 since the start of the year.
