MANCHESTER, Jamaica — A 37-year-old father has been charged with conspiracy to murder in connection with the killing of two men, allegedly in retaliation for the shooting death of his four-year-old daughter.
The accused is Kumar Obrien, otherwise called “Frazzle”, of Melrose Drive, Land Settlement, Manchester.
Police allege that Obrien conspired with other men to kill 29-year-old farmer Yakieni Shaw, also known as “Yankee”, of Comfort District, and 21-year-old Damien Edwards, otherwise called “Damie”, of Melrose Gardens, Williamsfield.
Shaw and Edwards were fatally shot about 3:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
Investigators believe the double killing was a reprisal for the death of Obrien’s daughter, Saniyah Obrien. The child was fatally shot on Sunday, February 8, while she and her father were seated in his Toyota Voxy in the parish.
According to the Mandeville police, Obrien was apprehended and interviewed before being charged following an investigation.
He is scheduled to appear before the Manchester Parish Court on Wednesday, October 21.
