Javon Marshal has been found guilty of shooting and robbing a police constable along Municipal Boulevard in Portmore, St Catherine, in February 2022.
Marshal was convicted on Friday in the St Catherine Circuit Court of wounding with intent, robbery with aggravation, illegal possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, and making use of a firearm to commit a felony.
He was remanded in custody pending sentencing on January 22 next year.
The court heard that the constable was riding his motorcycle along Municipal Boulevard about 8:50 p.m. on February 14, 2022, when he was shot in the back.
His attackers threw him into nearby bushes before escaping with his motorcycle and service pistol.
The wounded policeman remained there until the following day, when two men found him and alerted the police. He was taken to hospital and admitted in serious condition.
An intensive investigation subsequently led to Marshal’s arrest.
