A man accused of spitting on a woman after she repeatedly rejected his requests for a relationship was granted $30,000 bail with two sureties on Tuesday.
Dantae Smith, of St Andrew, appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on a charge of common assault.
According to the allegations, Smith visited the complainant’s workplace in Papine on several occasions and asked her to enter into a relationship with him.
The woman reportedly declined his advances repeatedly. During one visit, he allegedly spat on her.
As part of his bail conditions, Smith was ordered not to visit the complainant’s workplace and to report to the Papine Police Station every Monday between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
He is scheduled to return to court on January 20, 2027
