Jamaica Teachers’ Association president-elect Dr Maureen Mullings-Nelson and two other people were hospitalised following a two-vehicle collision near Duncans, Trelawny, on Thursday afternoon.
Reports indicate that the crash occurred about 3:30 p.m. on the Carey Park main road, near the Duncans intersection.
Mullings-Nelson was a passenger in a burgundy Honda CR-V driven by another woman. They were travelling from Montego Bay, St James, towards Trelawny when their vehicle collided with a white Honda CR-V heading in the opposite direction.
According to preliminary reports, the white Honda CR-V drifted into the path of the vehicle carrying Mullings-Nelson.
The JTA president-elect and both drivers sustained injuries. Police officers and members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade helped them from the vehicles before they were taken to Falmouth Public Hospital for treatment.
The extent of their injuries was not disclosed in the reports.
