KINGSTON, Jamaica — National table tennis standouts Azizi Johnson and Gianna Lewis have secured spots in the singles competition at the upcoming Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games in the Dominican Republic.
The Jamaica Table Tennis Association said both athletes earned qualification following strong performances at regional qualifiers, highlighting their discipline, preparation, and competitive readiness.
Eighteen-year-old Johnson and 21-year-old Lewis have been undergoing intensive training, focusing on tactical improvement and consistency as they prepare to represent Jamaica on the regional stage.
They are being guided by national head coach Dale Parham and assistant coach Colin McNeish, whose leadership has been credited with shaping the athletes into formidable competitors.
The wider squad also includes Brian Blake, Gmarco Smith, Karecia Peterkin, and Nevaeh Scott, all contributing to a strong Jamaican contingent heading into the CAC Games.
JTTA President Ingrid Graham praised the achievement, describing it as a reflection of both the athletes’ dedication and the commitment of the coaching staff.
“Seeing Azizi and Gianna earn their places at the CAC Games fills us with immense pride,” she said, adding that their success highlights a system built on effort, support, and strong technical guidance.
Chief Strategy Development Officer Aubyn Henry also welcomed the milestone, noting that qualification for a major regional event signals positive growth for the sport locally.
He said the achievement reflects patience, preparation, and a culture within the association that empowers athletes to perform confidently on bigger stages.
