Brussels, Belgium (McKoy’s News) – Jamaican sprint legend Shelly‑Ann Fraser‑Pryce had to settle for fourth place in the women’s 100m at the Brussels leg of the 2025 Wanda Diamond League on Friday, August 22, as fierce competition from American and British rivals kept her off the podium.
Fraser‑Pryce clocked 11.17 seconds, in a tightly contested race won by Melissa Jefferson-Wooden (USA) with an impressive 10.76 seconds, maintaining her unbeaten streak this season. Sha’Carri Richardson, also of the USA, took second, while Daryll Neita (Great Britain) claimed third.
The Jamaican icon, competing in what is expected to be her final full competitive season, showed her trademark determination on the track but was unable to crack the top three in a field stacked with in-form sprinters.
Brussels marked her second Diamond League outing this year, following her season debut in Doha where she also placed fourth with 11.05 seconds.
Despite missing out on a medal position, Fraser‑Pryce remains a fan favorite and a towering figure in global athletics, as eyes now turn to her next — and possibly final — appearance in the Wanda Diamond League Final in Zürich.
