An islandwide search is under way for Kenroy “Papa” Willis, a 25-year-old man whom police have described as a high-risk target allegedly linked to at least five murders in St Andrew.
Willis was reportedly the intended target of last Friday’s early morning operation in Five Miles, off the Sligoville main road in St Catherine. The confrontation left two police officers and three civilians dead, while a 10-year-old girl sustained gunshot wounds.
Those killed were Corporal Trevoy Shaw, Constable Devoney Rose, Errol Hussey, his son Malique Hussey, and his nephew Javoun Cogle.
Malique Hussey, also known as “Mal Boss”, was reportedly an associate of Willis, whose address is listed as Rose Hall District in Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew.
Police records reportedly describe Willis as an alleged enforcer for the Rose Hall gang and a suspect in murders, shootings and robberies.
He is wanted in connection with the October 26, 2024 killing of Verne Ewan Joseph along Essex Hall Main Road.
Investigators have also reportedly linked him to the deaths of Alexian Daley in Mahoney District, Lawrence Tavern, on May 26, 2024; Matthew Williams at Lawrence Tavern Square on June 14, 2024; and Oshane Blackwood along Brooks Level Road in Stony Hill on May 11, 2025.
Investigators are reportedly pursuing leads in several communities where Willis may have contacts or sought shelter. These include Golden Spring and Lawrence Tavern, Glengoffe in St Catherine, and Bull Bay and Clarks Hill in St Andrew.
Police have previously carried out targeted raids in search of Willis, with Friday’s operation reportedly forming part of the continuing effort to apprehend him.
There were also reports of gunfire beyond the police cordon during the Sligoville confrontation. Investigators reportedly suspect this was an attempt by Willis or his associates to distract officers while they were being fired upon from inside the house. The identity of those responsible for the gunfire outside the cordon has not been established.
Willis remains wanted as the search continues.
