Montego Bay, St James: Prime Minister Andrew Holness returned to the Catherine Hall community in Montego Bay on Wednesday to assess how recovery efforts have been progressing in the wake of Hurricane Melissa.
The Prime Minister previously visited the community immediately after the storm for an initial damage assessment. Wednesday’s return allowed him to observe firsthand the advances made in cleanup operations and the resilience of residents working tirelessly to rebuild.
During his tour, Holness spoke with residents and emergency personnel who have been coordinating restoration efforts. He confirmed that water service has now been restored to most areas of Catherine Hall, bringing welcome relief to affected households.
He added that electricity should be fully restored shortly, as crews continue working around the clock to repair damaged infrastructure and reconnect the remaining homes.
Prime Minister Holness praised the strength, determination, and unity of the Catherine Hall community, noting that the recovery process is moving steadily toward full restoration.
“We are making good progress,” he said. “Your Government will continue to stand with every community impacted by Hurricane Melissa until recovery is complete.”
With critical services being restored and cleanup efforts intensifying, Catherine Hall continues to show unwavering resilience on the road back to normalcy.
