The HEART/NSTA Trust has launched a year-long apprenticeship programme to prepare 83 participants for careers in Jamaica’s creative industries.
The Apprenticeship for Creative Expressions (ACE) programme brings together more than 30 industry partners and was launched at six locations across the island. It combines workplace experience with structured learning, mentorship and portfolio development.
Participants began placements on October 1 in areas including multimedia, photography, dance, woodcraft, film, fashion design, bag construction, drone operations and service robot operations.
The initiative aims to help apprentices strengthen their technical skills and develop the professional experience needed to pursue opportunities in the creative sector.
Entrepreneurship training is scheduled for April to July 2027, covering business planning, costing and pricing, financial management, marketing and client relations. This phase will help participants prepare to turn their skills into sustainable businesses.
Apprentices will receive stipend support from HEART/NSTA Trust, subject to attendance and participation requirements.
