Power supply has been restored to several communities following the successful energisation of electricity lines serving the National Water Commission’s (NWC) Roaring River Pump.
Residents in sections of Petersfield, Waterworks, and Shrewsbury Falls are now receiving electricity after the completion of works on the transmission lines. The energisation process was finalised last week, with subsequent testing confirming that power was successfully delivered to the area.
The restoration effort involved extensive reconstruction of the electricity network, including the rebuilding of more than 10 miles of power lines. The lines run from the Jamaica Public Service Company’s (JPS) Paradise substation to the Roaring River Pump facility.
Over 100 JPS linesmen were deployed to carry out the work, pushing to complete the project and restore service to affected communities.
JPS has indicated that efforts are ongoing to further rebuild and strengthen the electricity network as crews continue working to restore power to additional customers across the parish.
