St Elizabeth, Jamaica: The St. Elizabeth police are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death of a deep-sea diver and fisherman who died minutes after developing breathing problems while at sea in St. Elizabeth on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Crofton Ewers, a fisherman and deep-sea diver from Bluefields in Westmoreland.
Reports indicate that around 4:00 p.m., Ewers and a group of fishermen were deep-sea fishing near Pedro Cays, St. Elizabeth, when he began having difficulty breathing.
It is further reported that his colleagues assisted him out of the water, after which he received medical attention on the Cay.
He was later rushed to the Black River Hospital, where he died while being treated.
