St Catherine, Jamaica: The St. Catherine police are investigating the drowning death of a 16-year-old student in the Rio Cobre River in the parish on Tuesday.
The student has been identified as DeAndre Garvey, of Delido Drive in Ensom City, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.
Reports are that around 11:30 a.m., Garvey and a group of friends went for a swim in the Rio Cobre River when he encountered difficulties and drowned.
The boys raised the alarm, and the police were summoned.
A search team managed to locate Garvey’s body, which was retrieved from the river about an hour later and transported to the morgue for a post-mortem examination.
